Full steam ahead, October 2005

The Lydney ideas express rolled out of the station this October.

Thanks to Business in the Community the Lydney Area in Partnership and the Forest of Dean Railway together held a Full Steam Ahead event to celebrate the Partnership's work. The Partnership is currently working on several projects in Lydney to improve local amenities. Local Businesses were invited to attend this extraordinary event. A presentation was given by Derek Biddle, LAiP Chairman, Garry Wildin, Board Member and Peter Adams from the Forest of Dean Railway. Following the presentation the party were taken by steam train from Norchard Station to Lydney Junction and Whitecroft making pauses at Lydney Town and St Mary's Halt to view specific features and back to Norchard Station for exchange of ideas.

The Lydney Area in Partnership wishes to infuse local businesses with some of their drive and enthusiasm to develop and improve aspects of the Lydney area and environment. Several of the participating business people not only offered ideas and future cooperation with the Partnership with it endeavours but also agreed that they enjoyed the tour of Lydney and the Forest in the best possible way from their Steam Train, both in the observation carriage for some brave members, bold members on the footplate.
